This is a graduate-entry professional counselling qualification. To apply for this course, you must already hold an undergraduate degree, or a recognised equivalent qualification. You must also have completed a Level 3 counselling qualification that includes both counselling skills practice and counselling theory. A Level 3 counselling qualification completed entirely online is not accepted for entry to this course.
Applicants must be aged 19 or over at the start of the course. You should normally have English at Level 2, such as GCSE English at grade 4/C or above, or an equivalent qualification. Applicants may be asked to complete an initial assessment or provide evidence of their literacy skills as part of the admissions process.
Entry is subject to a written application and a structured interview with counselling course staff. The interview will consider your readiness for Level 4 study, your suitability for professional counselling practice, and your ability to meet the placement requirements of the course.
As part of the qualification, learners must complete a supervised counselling placement. This includes a minimum of 100 hours of supervised counselling practice with suitable clients in an appropriate setting.
Meeting the entry requirements does not guarantee a place. Places are limited and offers will be made following the full admissions and selection process.
Professional or voluntary experience may support your application, but it cannot replace the requirement to hold both a degree and an appropriate Level 3 counselling qualification.
Applicants with overseas qualifications will be asked to provide evidence of equivalency as part of the admissions process.
